Thoughts from the Kitchen

Tea Times

I know lately the Lord has been sharing with me and some of my friends about having tea with Him every day. This is a really appealing idea to me, since it means I have to take time to sit down and relax for a few minutes each day. I share my day with the Lord and listen to His input. I am not consistently doing this yet, however it has become an important goal for me. The Lord really wants to be a companion, a friend and confidante to us. What better way than to sit down and open your heart up to Him. I find a real peace and release of tension when I do stop and listen for at least the time it takes me to drink that cup of tea. Even though I do not pour real tea for Him, I do set the second cup across from me to help me visualize His presence with me. He is the friend that sticketh closer than a brother, an ever present help in our time of need, and He loves us even when things don't go like they should! Try sharing a cup of tea and your heart with Jesus--He really wants to listen!

Children's Tea Parties

I even feel we could take it further, in that we need to have tea parties for our friends and family. My children (boys included) love to have little snacks and drinks in tea party cups and saucers. We often bring dolls, stuffed animals, or even neighbors to our little gatherings. It is a great way to teach manners without losing the fun! Inside or outside, our tea parties are usually a huge success.

I recently went to a mother/daughter tea which used a theme of different countries to make it interesting. Each of the invitations asked you to bring a special goodie from a particular country to share with everyone. Some of the children even dressed up as if they were from that country! We shared about our nation and prayed for the people there to know Jesus personally. It was a lovely time of fellowship, education and fun.

So, take time to enjoy an old-fashioned social event and host a tea party this spring!
